The great state of Minnesota is known to many as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, it’s the kind of place a dog can learn to love. In particular, we are talking about a dog from the city of Minneapolis who goes by the name Emma. Emma was an odd dog because Emma was a great big old scaredy cat which is a weird thing for a dog to be. 

 

Emma’s biggest fear was swimming which was a great challenge living in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”. It was no wonder why Emma was such a scaredy cat. Every day, she walked out her front door the first thing she saw was a lake “Ahh!” She would walk down the street on the other side of the road there’d be a lake “Ahh!” Emma had a lot to be scared of.

 

One day, Emma started taking swimming lessons and she became more confident about swimming. The next time she walked out her front door she didn’t go “Ahh!” she said, “Oh, I can’t wait to swim there.” When she walked down the street and saw the lake across the street she said, “Oh, there’s another place I can swim.”

In the end, the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” became a place Emma could love.

 

明尼苏达州被许多人称为“万湖之国”，同时，也是一个狗能学会“爱”的地方。这里，我们要特别提到一条来自明尼阿波利斯市的狗，它的名字叫爱玛。艾玛是一只古怪的狗，她又大又老，但是胆小如猫，对狗来说是件很奇怪的事。

 

艾玛最大的恐惧是游泳，这是生活在“万湖之国”的一大挑战。艾玛的胆小不出意料。每天，她走出家门，第一眼看到的就是湖。“呜啊！”，她走在马路对面的街道上，街道那边有一片湖，艾玛心里十分害怕。

 

终于有一天，艾玛开始上游泳课，她对游泳变得更加自信了。

 

现在，她走出家门时，没有害怕地“呜啊”了。她说：“哈，我等不及要去那里游泳”。走在街上，看到对面的湖时，她说：“哇，还有一个地方可以游泳呢。”

 

最后，艾玛爱上了“万湖之国”。
