Mrs. Richards heard a loud crash.  She ran from the kitchen into the living room where Rebecca, Randy, and Rachel were all standing around pieces of Mrs. Richards’s favorite flower vase. “Who did it?,” asked Mrs. Richards, “Who broke my vase?”  “Not me,” said Rebecca. “Not me,” said Randy. “Not me,” said Rachel. “Well SOMEBODY did it and you can go to your room and stay there until you figure out who did it.”

 

When they got to their room they looked at each other. Who did it? “I was sitting on the couch reading a book and heard the crash,” said Rebecca.  “I was looking out the window at the baby birds in the nest in our tree outside and heard the crash,” said Randy. “I was looking for my pencil that had rolled under the desk and heard the crash,” said Rachel. Who did it?

 

Just then they saw their big grey cat, Spanky, go limping past the door. They ran and picked him up, there was broken glass in his paw. Spanky did it! Spanky was swatting at the flowers in the vase and it crashed to the floor. Mystery solved!

 

理查兹夫人听到一声巨响。她从厨房跑到起居室，只见丽贝卡、兰迪和瑞秋都站在碎成一地的花瓶旁，那是理查兹夫人最喜欢的花瓶。

 

“谁干的？”理查兹夫人问道，“谁把我的花瓶打碎了？”“不是我。”丽贝卡说。”不是我。“兰迪说。”“不是我，”雷切尔说。

 

‘’好吧，一定是你们谁打碎的。你们现在回自己的房间，呆在那里，直到想清楚是谁干的。“

 

孩子们回到房间后，他们互相看了看。是谁干的呢？“我坐在沙发上看书，听到打碎的声音，”丽贝卡说。“我正看着窗外树上巢中的小鸟，听到了撞击声，”兰迪说。“我在找我的铅笔，铅笔滚到桌子底下，我听到了碰撞声，”雷切尔说。到底是谁干的呢？

 

就在这时，他们看见了那只灰色的大猫斯班基一瘸一拐地从门边走过。他们跑过去把猫抱起来，发现它的爪子上有碎玻璃。是斯班基干的！原来斯班基想碰一下花瓶里的花，结果花瓶掉在了地板上。谜题解决了！
